The purported apathy of the gods was a funny thing; they tended to ignore you until you decide to ignore them. Then they made sure that you couldn't go a step without being reminded that they were gods and you were mortal.
If the destruction that was currently being wrought against the small village where she had boarded her horse hadn't been enough to tip Gabrielle off, the fact that she had been immediately called to the temple and the priests would have.
So now, instead of sitting inside the inn relaxing in the warmth of the fire and ignoring the storm that was blowing all around them, she was lead through the rain and wind to the temple gates and then further into the temple, to a place that these priests considered safe.
"Just talk to them, tell them we will do whatever we must to placate them." A wiry priest, well into old age begged.
